Copaky is an independent fork of azooKey, the Japanese-input keyboard for iOS originally created by Keita Miwa (ensan) and its contributors.
Copaky is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or otherwise officially connected to the azooKey project, ensan, or azooKey's contributors. It is a separate, independently maintained project that builds on azooKey's code under the terms of its MIT license. Any bugs, decisions, or opinions on this site are ours, not azooKey's.

Copaky's keyboard architecture, its flick and QWERTY input layouts, and its Japanese kana-kanji conversion all start from azooKey. We're grateful for it, and for how much of the groundwork it already got right.

The conversion engine underneath Copaky's Japanese input. We maintain our own fork to add things not (yet) in the original — such as suggestions from an Italian dictionary — while staying as close as we reasonably can to upstream.

Copaky's Italian suggestions come from a frequency lexicon derived from three Leipzig corpora (news, public web, typical usage), blended and filtered by the Copaky project. Licensed CC BY — see the terms of usage.
Everything else
Copaky also bundles dictionary data and a number of smaller open-source components under their own licenses. The complete list, with the exact license text for each, lives in the app's own in-app Acknowledgements screen — that screen, not this page, is the source of truth for anything not listed above.

Copaky's own code is developed as an open-source project under the MIT License, the same license as azooKey; the source is public at github.com/pettipol/copaky. See the Terms of Service for how this applies to your use of the app.
